The "Outing" of Banksy.

Supposedly Banksy has been outed. Gasp shock horror he went to a posh school and is from the south-west, run the headlines, that won't help his street image they snicker. I am surprised given the propensity of security cameras in the areas he has been attributed as having painted or vandalised depending on your point of view, nobody has identified him before.

He joins the author of Primary Colours, the Girl With A One Track Mind and more recently Fake Steve Jobs, to name a few in being outed possibly before they wanted to, if at all.

There's a lot to be said for mystery, its more exciting. Perhaps that's one reason why conspiracy theories are so popular rather than the depressing mundane truth.

  1. I've always found that conspiracy theories are more interesting because they do have a certain amount a followable logic to them. However interesting they are though, nothing can end up being stranger and illogical than 'real life' lol. Scary but true.

  2. I don't care if he's posh or went to private school, his works is witty and actually improves the environment, long may he continue.

  4. So his art is now 'less' because he's not from 'da street'? :) B*lls to that. Compared to a lot of graffiti you seen, Banksy's work is a cut above... no doubt coming to a t-shirt* near you.

  5. I presume the MoS and other newspapers have been hounding and offering money to the friends and family of Robin Gunningham and the best they've got is an ex-neighbour and an old photo taken in Jamaica years ago. Hardly enough to stand up in court. I think he on the whole beautifies some grey structures and perpetrated some interesting stunts, like the Paris Hilton cd's for example. I'm sure his background matters to some who regard authenticity as all important but like Joe Strummer, it doesn't bother me in the least.

  6. Jenny - Banksy was a great keeper, his statue was long overdue.

Liz - The more I think about them the more I think they're all nonsense but great fiction.
